Blind Adventurer Completes The Argyll Sea Kayak Trail Challenge On A SUP

Dean Dunbar is a Blind adventurer and inspirational public speaker. Two years after being registered blind at the age of 29, Dean did a charity tandem skydive which changed his life. Since then he has notched up over 80 activities around the world, ranging from adventure racing to zorbing, and set almost 20 world firsts in activities ranging from open-water swimming to stand up paddle-boarding. Dean’s latest mission: attempting to paddle the Argyll Sea Kayak Trail.

Exclusive SUP Guided Tour Being Offered In New Zealand

Local Wanaka activity provider Paddle Wanaka have come up with a first for NZ, if not the world, with their exclusive guided Stand up Paddle (SUP) boarding trip on a remote mountain lake, located within the spectacular Southern Alps region of New Zealand.

Flatwater Foundation Announces 7th Annual Tyler’s Dam That Cancer Event

The Flatwater Foundation is excited to announce the return of their annual fundraising event, Tyler’s Dam That Cancer, taking place on Monday, June 13, 2016. The Flatwater Foundation created the event seven years ago to raise awareness of the importance of mental health support and each year, Tyler’s Dam That Cancer invites participants to travel a 21-mile course from Mansfield Dam on Lake Austin to Tom Miller Dam (Hula Hut) on stand-up paddle boards.

In a series of articles we will be looking at some of the key features of training other SUP paddlers. Do you call it Coaching? Teaching? Instructing? Whatever you call it you are facilitating the learning process, and Kerr (1982) defines learning as “a relatively permanent change in performance resulting from practice or past experience”.
