21-mile Stand-up Paddle Event Unites Community to Fund Mental Health Support for Those Affected by Cancer.
Standup for the Cure (SUFTC) kicks off its sixth year of fundraising with its flagship event Saturday, May 6 from 9:00am-3:00pm at Newport Dunes in Newport Beach, California. Over 1,000 participants are anticipated to come show their support of the Orange County Affiliate of Susan G. Komen.
On Saturday, April 22, Los Angeles Waterkeeper welcomes ocean enthusiasts to Paradise Cove in Malibu for one of Southern California’s largest stand up paddle (SUP) board races, Stand Up For Clean Water, a Waterkeeper Alliance SPLASH Event presented nationally by Toyota and locally by LA Sanitation.
Standup for the Cure’s Sixth Annual fundraising event and one of the largest paddle competitions in the world, is scheduled for Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 9am at Newport Dunes in Newport Beach, California.

The Butterfly Effect is continuing its 2016 BE World Tour with the third annual Butterfly Effect California event and a variety of activities, all to promote women in water sports and to bring awareness to this year’s charity, Boarding for Breast Cancer Foundation and their mission that advocates early detection and a healthy, active, and sustainable lifestyle as the best means for breast cancer prevention.
The second Annual Standup for the Cure, Muskegon, hit the beach of Harbor Towne on Saturday morning to help continue the fight against breast cancer. The standup paddle board event is organized to help support the local affiliate of Susan G. Komen, a foundation dedicated to breast cancer research. Support was strong with 540 registered paddlers getting into gear for the 5K race on Muskegon Lake.
Local Austin non-profit The Flatwater Foundation held it's annual fundraising event, Tyler's Dam That Cancer, for the seventh year, exceeding their fundraising goal of half a million dollars, raising $515,000 to help fund critical mental health programs.
On July 23, eighteen paddle boarders will set out to complete a round trip paddle to the Isles of Shoals as part of the event called the Stand Up for Littles IOS Invitational. As a fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters of New Hampshire (BBBSNH), the charity paddle to the island chain, which is located approximately 6 miles off the New Hampshire coast, has become a staple in the Northern New England paddle board scene, and a bucket list event for many.
